Caregiver Stories

Have you ever listened to the voices of those living with dementia?

A woman who is younger than her husband by more than 10 years found an unmailed letter he left behind after his passing. As she read the letter, she realized how much he had cherished their relationship.

My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 92, the year she immigrated to Toronto.

“It’s coming! It’s coming!” That was what Dr. C, our family doctor, said to my mother on a routine visit to his clinic around 2003. Dr. C was referring to my father’s health condition and warning us my father might have Alzheimer’s disease.

Let’s look at it this way. Alzheimer’s can be compared to a burglar.
